She's only a few weeks old and I let her run around the lounge room because she is now toilet trained. She has crawled up the bottom of the wood heater and it's impossible to me to get her out. I've tried getting her out by using food, her favorite treat, i've out her litter tray near by, i've even just left the food there for a few hours so she can come out when she's hungry. But none of it has worked.
What can I do?How do I get my rat to come out of hiding?
She's hiding there because she feels safe and secure.
If food and calling her out are failing, you could try laying down on the floor and putting a blanket over your head and over the wood heater to try and lure her out, it will be darker then and she'll feel safer. Also try pulling your arm into your sleeve and tempting her into the tunnel, she will be far more willing to move from one secure place to another and it will be easier that way to pick her up when she does come out.
Hope you get the naughty little rascal back to safety soon :) xxxHow do I get my rat to come out of hiding?
Yeah, that was a problem I had when I first got my two little girls. I would try pushing a broom through (don't touch her with it, just put the stick part through and she might come out) if food isn't working. Also, the sound of your voice might help. Stay calm though. Also, once you get her out try playing with her in the bathtub instead. I would put a towel down in the tub along with a few toys, and if she hops out of the tub, just be ready. Let her, but close the toilet and any other things she might get into like cabinets.
Just a note, do you have more than one rat? Rats are very social animals, so being in a cage alone for hours at a time could get frustrating.
Good luck,
Amphitrite
thats why you should never let babies run around no matter how well trained they are! you should keep them on a table/bed/closed off area or something. its most frustrating when youre in that situation but really you will just have to wait, she WILL come out when shes hungry. it might be ages but unless shes stuck she WILL come out
she is scared if she is only a few weeks old then she is not used to all this new stuff don't overwhelm her but try to hand feed her so she will get used to you eventually she will be comfortable just remember she is only a few weeks old and this is all new to her
you have force her to come out, use some brute force. unless if you have any other options?
bomb the house with stinky cheese and rice beans fogger force to come out or die caca brain
Hide your face ;)
just a suggestion
