Hey Pink!
This will sound funny ir stupid for you,but use fabrick softner sheets all around your garage.
Rats, mice and any kind of insects hate the smell of it and they leave..
If you have ants all around your house?Get fabric softner sheets and lay it around, garanteed you will not see them know More.
Sincerely,
KennyRats in our garage?
theres a rat in ma kitchen. what am i gonna do
Sorry, can't pop round for dinner tonight, But you should get hold of the Council, first thing Monday morning, this is a health and safety issue, there may be a charge, but your neighbours have to be considered as well, and keep the garage door locked shut for now.
Good luck.
You won't have to throw anything out. 1% of rats carry Wiels disease which can only be passed from fresh rats urine to a human through the mouth or any cuts or scratches so chances are as long as you don't go round licking the stuff in your garage you'll be fine. You could put down poison but be aware that when the rat ingests it, it will go straight to the nearest source of water where it will drink until it drowns itself so if you have a pond or open water tank...If theres a man in the house (sorry for being sexist but its true) get him to put down a few rat traps, gruesome but most effective, alternatively try thouse high pitched rodent deterrent plug in thingys, ive heard mixed results bout them but don't throw anything out, just wash it
First of all call in Environmental HEalth Services from your local Council. Should be a free service. Then chuck out EVERYTHING that has had a rat near it; pee'd or poo'd on it. They carry awful diseases that are certainly (from personal experience) fatal to pets and make humans ill.
Well i'm the pied piper can ya see bud, sound out the alarm!.....
Might sound daft but buy a cat !
Get on to your council's Pest Control dept.
Wash as much as you can and be very careful about washing your hands. Rats wee can cause Wheils Disease. I may not have spelled that right it is nasty and can be fatal.
