There was a dead rat found in a pool i was swimming in today. Should I be worried about my health?

If the poor rat stumbled in the pool and drowned to death, I don't imagine there would be too much of a health risk...so long as he wasn't too overly bloated and disintegrating. You may also wonder, if the rat was able to swim, and leave the pool, then mayhaps the water itself was contaminated severely enough to kill the rat...
Chlorine, which disinfects the pool water, is also what likely killed the rat, if drowning didn't occur.





I do not believe there's any risk to your health, but perhaps a pool cover would be a good investment to keep animals from drowning.
If there were feces floating around with it too, I'd worry. Otherwise, being a pool there's probably enough chemicals in it to kill anything. Keep a watch on any skin irritations, mucous discharges, eye discoloration, if any of those things start see a doctor immediately.
haha you will be fine!!! chlorine kills germs. Its like a pool sanatizer. plus, u didnt drink the water, right? If you still feel you are worried, go get a physical checkup or call your doctor. you'll be fine, dont worry =D Rats get in our sewers and drinking wells, but we chlorinate it to be safe for drinking. same thing basically :oP
no. the rat may have drowned. the pool should have a filter and chlorine in it as well. you should be fine. this happens a lot. people often find dead rabbits and other animals in their pools. not to worry.
I have a pool and often find dead mice in it. As long as the pool is properly maintained there is no problem - it's just kind of gross. The pool chemicals will kill any harmful germs.
Don't think you have to worry, the pool should have chlorine in it and that should have taken care of the problems.
Nope, I wouldn't worry about it. That's what chlorine is for. Just the thought of it is kind of gross though! Try not to think about it :)
Nope....but it doesn't hurt to get a check up. =). But remember the only way to capture the rat's soul is to eat's its heart....so you may want to find where the rat was disposed at.
There was probably enough chlorine in the pool to kill any bacteria. I would rather swim with a rat than a kid with a dirty diaper anyways.
well not really just take a vitamen C to help your immune system and if the pool had enough choline that bacteria should be gone
Don't worry about it. Chlorine is meant to clean the pool. Unless you start health problems it sounds harmless.
