What do you think about pet rats?

No pet rats in my house! We feed rats to our ball python What do you think about pet rats?
My sister has had several pet rats over the years. They are cute and intelligent animals, but can occasionally be difficult to care for, in that their cages require regular cleanings. Another downside is that they have a limited lifespan, and it can be heartbreaking to see a beloved pet die in as little as 2 years. Otherwise, though, I think they make great pets. I'll probably try to see whether I can keep one as a pet in my dorm when I go to college. I think I'll call him Charles.What do you think about pet rats?
My child brought 2 pet rats home from school when summer vacation came along. Teacher wanted her to take care of them.





At first, I thought EEEEWWWWW! But, in a short while, I thought they were ok. They were smart, good pets. Did have to keep their cage clean, as they got smelly very quickly.
I wouldn't have one for a pet. A hamster is as close to a rat as I'll get!


I do have a hamster though, her name is Savarah.

You could reuse the cage although I myself prefer free range chinchillas.



I think they're adorable but I think rodents, on a whole, are unsanitary. I guess you'd have to keep their cages really clean.
The white lab rats are very intelligent you can treat them tricks.
They're highly intelligent and trainable but they kinda creep me out....

Dirty and disgusting filthy rodents.
I used to have one. They're way cute and friendly. The down side is that they stink and the males have huge scary balls.
Cute, as long as you don`t milk them, that would be so gross!

Well depends i am not so into pet rats but i love chiauha's! they don't get counted as rats tho xD
I think they make better pets than hamsters or gerbils. They are smarter and don't bite as much.
I think they should be left where they belong, in the sewer or in a garbage can!
I myself, don't like rats, but some people may enjoy them if domesticated. I have bad memories from the war.

Cool, i think rats are kinda cute.
As long as they're not just kept in cages for their entire lives, I think it's a fine idea. People and animals need each other. Animals teach us to be more human.
