Glowing Rats: How Do They Glow?

They probably created a transgenic line of rats that express the Green Florescent Protein (GFP) in genes that are always ';on'; (ie expressing) in epidermal cells. They may have even done this for hair follicle cells as well.

It is a common technique to use GFP spliced onto genes of interest in biomedical research to determine when and where certain genes are expressed. I've used it for cancer research.Glowing Rats: How Do They Glow?
they made glowing rats?! damn gentiscists...

1.they took jellyfish DNA and insterted it into the rat's cells while it was an embryo

2.they took DNA from a firefly and insterted it into the rats cells, also during embryonic stages

the jellyfish thing i seen on a TV show, in japan they inster that DNA into little fishies to make then glow and sell them as pets, and the firefly thing i seen in my biology book, they were trying to make tobacco plants that GLOW when they need water!! didnt work out though...Glowing Rats: How Do They Glow?
Easy one... they crossed the dna from jellyfish with the rats.
NY PTK is right.
