How is it that my toy rat terriers poop can stink up the ENTIRE house in minutes?

He will poop just a tiny bit and within minutes the smell is overwhelming.

go to a groomer and get his anal glands squeezed. The terriers have over active anal glands they stink soo bad. Just go to a groomer and it that done every month, its not too expensive to get done either. My rat terrier's were soo bad until I squoze them and then the small went away.How is it that my toy rat terriers poop can stink up the ENTIRE house in minutes?
At almost 1 year old, your dog should be off puppy food. a small breed dog can transition to adult food by 6 months. Iams is NOT a good food and feeding a better food will help with the odor. If you shop at a big name store like Petco or Petsmart, then SLOWLY transition him to either Wellness , Natural Balance or Solid Gold. Everything else in those stores is mediocre at best. If you have small independent stores near you, then switch him to Innova their reg. brand or Innova Evo their no grain brand. Good Luck!
Just because other people on IAMS don't have a problem with smelly poo it doesn't mean it's still ok to feed it to your dog. I'd change his diet. Maybe the IAMS is having a reaction with your dog. Also Toilet train your dog. A pup that is a year old should not be pooing inside the house. My 10 week old pup will not poop inside.
He must be related to my boyfriend after I feed him eggs.I changed his diet and I make him keep the bathroom door shut,and now we do not have a problem.Try this with you doggy.

maybe its because he is from a puppy mill and is used to pooping everywhere and is full of diseases and worms..
umm maybe you shouldnt let him poop in the house, and there is no such thing as a toy rat terrier, so it was a backyard breeder
he should poop outside...does he??


then it wouldn't smell. My pup eats the same food, hes a lab/golden cross. No problems here. The only thing i can think of is if hes neutered?
It doesn't really matter what size the feces are.. they all have the scent of methane, and when that reacts with oxygen, well ..
Switch him to a higher quality food and see if that changes the um smell
Think I would change the dogs diet.
I would take it to the vet and get it checked out.
give him less food. and fed him at a certain time every day.
Yuck...clean it up right away..
