ok we used to have rats in our house and i am thinking of getting a hamster. We have glue traps and a thing that plugs into the wall (not sure wat it is) just i cace they come back. I know that if the hamster gets stuck in the glue traps it will prolly die if i dont find it but will rats hurt it? Will that thing that plugs into the wall hurt it?Will rats harm my hamster?
If your cage is not secure, there could be a chance a wild rat could hurt it. But if you use a secure cage, and keep it in a safe spot, you needn't worry.
But ';Thing that plugs into the wall'; I think you mean those ultrasonic pest deterrents? They have a limit to where they reach, so I would recommend keeping them in areas where you think the rats are (Such as around the kitchen, or wherever their food source is) and away from where you intend on keeping the hamster. I've only used those things once, and I had gerbils at the time, but they were on the other side of the house. Didn't seem bothered, though.Will rats harm my hamster?
Yes, rats will probably hurt it. The ';thing that plugs into the wall';, if that can hurt rats, it will hurt the hamster too. I don't think you should have a hamster because of those reasons. You really don't want to put it in danger. Unless, you can put the cage somewhere high and watch it carefully. Supervise it while you are handling it or letting it run around.
well if your buying a hampster it needs a cage...u cant juz let it run free ';I know that if the hamster gets stuck in the glue traps it will prolly die'; this is waht u said and it sound like u want it to run free
any who...the rats will only be able to harm your hampster if its cage is accesible to them and if there are ant openings large enough for your hampsters head to stick out of it
as far as ???the thing that pluggs into the wall???
its prolly just a smelly odor that rats dont like
if your that concerned go to a pet store ask them what id does and if it will harm your hampster...if that sounds like too much work then keep the hampster in a dif room the the ';wall thing';
best of luck
I've had two stupid hamsters in my life and everybody else I know that's had them, have had the same problem. They are escape artist and they won't come back. I have owned lots of rats. Which are very sweet, but let me tell you this, they will have size and intelligence on your hamster and your hamster will lose. So, please make sure you have a secure cage and up in a place that the wild rats don't frequent. I really think it would be bad if the poor thing got beaten to death in a brutal way by some wild rats. Or even just bit and gets a bad disease.
yes they my try to get in a fight with your hamster
