How do i tell the difference between rat sexes?

my babie rats are about 3 weeks old and i thik i need to start prepairing to seperate them so they dont keep on reproducing. any tips to tell diffret sexes? thanksHow do i tell the difference between rat sexes?
At three weeks you should be able to see nipples on the girls tummies. Also the boys have a ';package'; that is obvious at around 3 weeks. The girls don't.How do i tell the difference between rat sexes?

You shouldn't separate them before they are 4 weeks of age. They become sexually mature at about 5 weeks. So if you have a good timeline then at about 4 and a half weeks you may separate them.





Now comes the sexing part. If you wish to not worry about it for another week, then sexing will be very easy, the males will have very apparent packages. If you want to try your eye now, then you flip the rat over, or hold it upright and get under it. The girls will have nipples running from under their armpits down along their stomachs. Also you will notice their privates are closer to their anuses than males. Males will have a longer gap in between their privates and their anuses.

Have the rat stand upright (either let them try to climb your hand or offer the ma treat) if it is a male the testes will drop and you will be able to see them.
yes the male rats have balls and the female rats don't so you are going to have to look at them very carefully
You can tell, whether a rat baby is male or female by looking at their rear ends. Males have bigger and a sort of protruding part, while females don't. Don't worry, you still have some more time to tell. As they get older, it gets easier to tell. Good luck! :)
