Is it possible to keep a rat in a large hamster cage?

hi i have two questions #1. i got a my rat last summer and so far i kept her in a big hamster cage, will i have to get a bigger cage? #2. is it true that if you keep a rat in a small cage it will not grow full size?Is it possible to keep a rat in a large hamster cage?
If you want a happy rat you should get a bigger cage. I have 3 rats that I got last Aug. I recently moved them into a 4 foot tall ferret cage. Rats love to climb, you don't have to get a cage as big as mine for 1 rat but she would really be happy in a spacious cage. I know people don't like spending money on buying bigger cages but I could really tell the difference in attitude when I moved them over.

I definately would recommend getting a bigger cage. It can be unsafe for the rat to be in such a small space. Plus, I know from experience they can eat through just about anything plastic. They also are mini-houdinis,and if you keep them in the small cage, they might try to escape more often. Good luck.
You can buy a rate cage for 20-60 bucks. Not that expencive. By placing a rat in a cage that's too small you're putting it's health at risk.
i would think that by now she is probably full grown. so it the cage is fitting her fine then don't get a bigger one, unless you want to. i suggest you get glass aquriums they work the best and are the easyest to clean. you can find them cheap in the papper. and rats will get as big as their genes tell them too. when i was in high school i had a seven pound rat. he was huge!!!
Of course it is just make sure the floors aren't metal bar thingys because rats can get these bumpy things on their feet. If it does, put small pieces of blankets on the bottom. ANnd for the 2nd question: FALSE the size of a cage has nothing to do with how big your rat is.
